The Challenge

Attract Guests to the Visitor Center

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation had a conundrum. Their Visitor Center was a beautifully designed building attached to the Foundation — part museum, part call to action. But due to its location directly across from The Space Needle, as well as its generic name, the Visitor Center was not attracting the right audiences.

Enter Redbird. We were called in to help launch the rebranded center and develop a digital exhibit for the center to support its ongoing goal of showcasing, amplifying, and personalizing the work of the Gates Foundation and its grantees.

Our Solution

Create a Dynamic Digital Experience

Redbird conceptualized and created the digital user experience for this dynamic rebranded “Discovery Center.” The microsite served as a wonderfully navigable guide to the museum, giving visitors a visually captivating snapshot of the journey they would experience inside.

It also included interactive exhibit content to help drive school tours, attract visitors to programs and events, and make logistical planning simple for families, tourists, and administrators.

The Impact

The Gates Discovery Center site went from being a static brochure that was difficult to update, to a responsive, interactive exhibit site that drives increasing attendance and inspires visitors to action.

It now allows for groups to book tours and RSVP for events. The staff can easily update the CMS with program and exhibit information. It is a truly useful museum site that empowers the Gates Foundation Discovery Center staff to manage and proudly share the latest content.
